This is the portable equivalent of a sun-dial mounted on the wall of a house, with the inscription TEMPUS FUGIT (Time passes). A small pin fits into a hole decorated by a sun. The month is adjusted on the fixation on top of the medal. When the medal is turned into the sun, the shadow of the pin shows the True Local Time.
