Arbaro — Tree Generator

Arbaro is programmed in Java und runs under any operating system as long as the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) is installed (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/index.html). Arbaro does not need to be installed, just unpack it into any directory retaining the folder structure in the zip-file. 17 MB of hard disk space are required.

Arbaro comes with 18 pre-defined trees. A tree is defined by up to 93 parameters in four hierarchies: form, trunks, branches, twigs and leaves. The trees are defined in XML files which are a few KB in size. However, an exported tree can easily take several 10 MB. Imported into Bryce, each hierarchy can be assigned a different material. A particularly nice feature is the quality option. If the tree(s) are to be placed far from the camera, the quality can be set low and the filesize of the exported object gets smaller accordingly.

Export Format
The tree generated can be exported in the following 3D formats:

  • INC PovRay Meshes
  • INC PovRay Primitives
  • OBJ Wavefront Object
  • DXF AutoCAD

Additional Help

  • All 93 Parameters of the 18 pre-defined trees and a picture of each one rendered as PDF (12 pages, 1.1 MB).
  • A one-page Template, that can hold the parameters of 3 trees as PDF (1 page, 14 KB). May prove to be very helpful when you want to develop and archive your own trees.
